Friday Night Comics Recap !!

FOC Due Tonight! Closes at 11:30!

Week’s heat sheet from the counter — ASM #1000 week on the POS charts, aftermarket still chasing Venom/Spider paper, and Oct 7 Midnight / Demon / Hex just hit the rack too fresh for a full sales chart. Last look before FOC locks tonight.

On the wall right now

Five standouts you can tap straight into the shop — covers link to the product page. ASM #1000 / Amazing Venom / Alien vs X-Men / Midnight #1s still not live on Shopify as of this write — those stay text-only below.

What sold through last week

Prana POS (600+ shops), week of Sept 29–Oct 5 — store sell-through, not pull rankings (Bleeding Cool / Prana, published today Oct 9):

  • Amazing Spider-Man #1000 — #1 of the week at 100%. Wide + LCSD early copies crushed everything else.
  • The Amazing Venom #1 — #2 (~18.75%). Marvel’s next-loudest new #1.
  • DNX #2 — #3 (~17.71%). Event follow heat right behind Venom.
  • Absolute Batman #24 — #4 (~17.95%). Last week’s Absolute Week #1 still hanging in the top five with no new Absolute/Batman from DC.
  • Alien vs. X-Men #1 — #5 (~17.19%). Then X-Men #38, Fantastic Four #17, Poison Ivy #48, Uncanny X-Men #36, Queen in Black #5.

Marketshare that week: Marvel ~51.07%, DC ~26.20%, Image ~11.61%. Also Top 20-ish: Zod Special, Zatanna #6, Wonder War Matriarch Special, Geiger #25, Abs WW #24 still backlisting. ComicHub Wednesday-to-weekend index (Bleeding Cool, ~Oct 3) had the same ASM #1000 blowout — roughly 5× the next book.

Aftermarket movers (old + new)

ComicsHeatingUp / CovrPrice week ending Oct 4 + Bleeding Cool / CovrPrice hot list published Oct 6 — named highs only where the source posted them:

  • Amazing Venom #1 Ito — BC Oct 6 #1 aftermarket: high ~$20 raw NM / FMV ~$14. Trade-dress chase; virgin 1:100 is the harder hunt.
  • Amazing Spider-Man #1000 — LCSD Skan: high ~$57 / FMV ~$33 (cooled from the Sept ~$150 spike). Ditko B&W 1:50: high ~$116 / FMV ~$87. Cover A rack ≠ variant chase.
  • Lanterns TV heat — Green Lantern #39 Taurin Clarke (high ~$25 / FMV ~$20) + Justice League Unlimited #23 Dave Wilkins (high ~$22 / FMV ~$17) still topped CovrPrice WE 10/4 as the season races the end.
  • Ghost Pepper #15 Rachta Lin 1:25 — high ~$100 raw NM / FMV ~$53. Incentive chase, not Cover A.
  • Miracleman paper — Miracleman #1 (1985) still bouncing (BC: high ~$30 raw NM / VF FMV ~$14; CHU graded 9.6 high ~$128); Avengers: Armageddon #4 Michael Cho spoiler high ~$25 / FMV ~$16.
  • Spawn ’77 #1 McFarlane 1:50 — high ~$60 / FMV ~$42 (homage ladder). Cover A remains a cover-price book.
  • Also named: Freddie the Fix #1 (Amazon movie news — main high ~$28 / FMV ~$23; 1:10 high ~$35 / FMV ~$27); Det #1113 Rhetoric (high ~$21 / FMV ~$12); Abs Batman #25 Clay Mann foil pre-street (high ~$15 / FMV ~$8 — FOC already closed); Last Driver #1 2nd print; Batman #635 Dynamic Duo rumor spike (grain of salt); VisionQuest trailer moving West Coast Avengers #45 / Avengers #162.

Just hit the rack (too early for full sales charts)

Wed Oct 7 street is only two days old — Prana’s next weekly chart won’t catch full Midnight week yet. Pre-street: Marvel said the three Midnight #1s topped 1M combined orders with 2nd printings already set for Oct 28 (AIPT / Marvel, Sept). Reviews split on Midnight Spider-Man; Demon #1 / Jonah Hex #1 getting strong Next Level praise (Comics Beat). League of Comic Geeks “+” counts are pull interest, not POS:

  • Midnight Spider-Man / Fantastic Four / X-Men #1 — reportedly the only Marvel books Oct 7. Counter ask is real; allocation + cloaked covers are the chatter. Not on Shopify as of this write — text-only. Early Prana chart still shows faint Midnights in the 200s–300s from pre-street bleed, not full week-one POS.
  • Demon #1 + Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death #1 — DC #1 energy on the wall (Harren / Walsh). Live on the shop — tiles above.
  • Absolute Superman #24 / Absolute Green Lantern #19 / Batman #14 — Absolute shelf + mainline Bat while Absolute still owns the wall. G.I. Joe / Tomb Raider #1 also on the rack.
  • Something Is Killing the Children #50 — Image milestone; not on Shopify as of this write — text-only.

FOC tonight

Customer FOC closes at 11:30. Books that are actually moving or about to ship — not the whole slate. Publisher FOC on most Oct 14 shippers already closed; tonight is the customer last call before they hit. Each title links straight to its Manage Comics product page. Full FOC list: okanagansportscardsandcomics.com/pages/managecomics/foc.

Do not treat Absolute Batman #25 or Absolute Catwoman #4 as tonight’s FOC — those publisher cutoffs already closed. Clay Mann foil aftermarket ≠ Cover A rack.

Watch / skip

  • Reprint traps: Last Driver #1 2nd print on the aftermarket list — later print ≠ first-print heat. Midnight #1 2nd printings already announced for Oct 28 — don’t confuse those with first-print allocation.
  • ASM #1000 / Venom Ito / Spawn ’77 1:50 chase ≠ Cover A POS. Ghost Pepper #15 1:25 same story.
  • Freddie the Fix spike is Amazon development news — fun aftermarket, not a new-rack book.
  • Dynamic Duo casting rumors moving Batman #635 — no official cast lock cited. Grain of salt.

Next week’s likely movers

  • Wed Oct 14: Venom #1, Amazing Spider-Man #1001, DNX #3, X-Men #39, Spawn ’77 #2 — the books locking tonight.
  • Oct 28 window: Midnight #1 2nd printings + Absolute Batman #25 / Abs Cat #4 street — not tonight’s FOC.

Nearby / moving paper

  • Metro-Con — Oct 16–18 at SFU Convocation Mall, Burnaby (horror-leaning; Burnaby Halloween Festival).
  • Pacific Comics & Collectibles Expo — Sun Oct 18 at Vancouver Flea Market, 703 Terminal Ave.
